Hammond Playground is the dedicated children's playground within Beauchamp Park. It is a district playground with a mix of traditional play equipment and nature-play elements, including swings, a slide, flying fox, sandpit, spinners, climbing equipment and a climbing-net carousel. The playground also features a wooden canoe and cow sculpture as part of its nature-play setting. The playground sits among established trees, with open grassy areas nearby for running, ball games and picnics. Public artworks are also scattered around the park, including sculptures located around Hammond Playground. Hammond Playground is also due for renewal. Willoughby City Council consulted the community in 2026 about improvements to the playground, with construction planned for 2026/27 subject to budget approval.
Beauchamp Park Oval is the main sportsground for rugby and cricket, with a turf cricket wicket, as well as a full basketball court. The sportsground also has lighting and supporting facilities including change rooms, a disabled toilet, multipurpose room and an external amphitheatre. The oval provides a more structured sporting use within Beauchamp Park, while the surrounding parkland provides space for more casual recreation.
For anyone bringing a dog, the oval adds a practical stop to the morning. Leave a little time to sit before heading back. The pleasure here is having somewhere nearby to walk, let the dog stretch its legs and spend a quiet hour outdoors. The oval is available for off-leash exercise with a designated off-leash area, when it isn’t being used for sport. Check signs on arrival and council’s park information for current restrictions.
